A film that has to do two different jobs on its two faces needs two different surfaces. In this primerless BOPP base film the structure is three layer co extrusion: a core that carries the mechanical strength, one skin formulated for bonding activity so EVA adhesive grips directly, and the opposite skin corona treated for handling, winding and any secondary printing or lamination step. Each surface is engineered for its role rather than both being a compromise.
Building the function into the structure also makes it possible to tune the film for a specific line. Skin formulation, skin thickness and treatment level can be adjusted for a particular adhesive, a particular coating temperature or a particular downstream print process, and the core can be set for the stiffness a given gauge needs. Converters get a base film matched to their process rather than a general purpose film that has to be compensated for.

One skin carries the bonding activity that lets EVA adhesive grip directly, which is the basis of the primer free process.
The opposite face is corona treated to a stable level, so it handles and winds cleanly and can take printing or a further lamination step.

The structure is available across the thickness range used for pre coated film, including the thinner gauges where strength has to be preserved.
