ISO 9239 Flooring Radiant Panel Test Apparatus

Product Introduce
The ISO 9239-1 Flooring Radiant Panel Test Apparatus is a state-of-the-art device designed for evaluating the fire resistance and burning behavior of flooring materials, such as textile carpets, wood flooring, rubber flooring, and plastic coverings. Compliant with international standards like ISO 9239-1, ASTM E648, and GB/T 11785, this advanced testing machine measures critical radiant flux, flame spread, and smoke generation under controlled radiant heat conditions. Ideal for manufacturers, quality control labs, and certification bodies, it ensures compliance with fire safety regulations for building materials, making it an essential tool for ensuring product safety and performance in construction and interior design applications.
Standard
ISO 9239-1:2010 - Reaction to fire tests for floorings — Part 1:
Determination of the burning behaviour using a radiant heat source
ISO 9239-2: Reaction to fire tests for floorings — Part 2:
Determination of flame spread at a heat flux level of 25 kW/m²
ASTM E648: Standard Test Method for Critical Radiant Flux of
Floor-Covering Systems Using a Radiant Heat Energy Source
ASTM E970: Standard Test Method for Critical Radiant Flux of
Exposed Attic Floor Insulation Using a Radiant Heat Energy Source
NFPA 253: Standard Method of Test for Critical Radiant Flux of
Floor Covering Systems Using a Radiant Heat Energy Source
GB/T 11785: Determination of the burning properties of flooring
materials - radiant heat source method
Application
The ISO 9239 floor covering radiant heat tester is suitable for testing the flammability and flame spread characteristics of the following types of floor coverings:
Textile carpets
Cork flooring
Wood flooring
Rubber flooring
Plastic coverings and coatings
Cellulose insulation flooring materials
Composite flooring materials
Horizontal surfaces in rail vehicle interiors (per EN 45545-2)
Other building flooring materials
Main parameter
1. The stainless steel test chamber features a front-opening door
for easy cleaning of the interior walls.
2. The interior walls are constructed of calcium silicate board,
providing high-temperature and corrosion resistance.
3. A stainless steel fume hood is installed above the combustion
chamber.
4. A 300mm x 450mm porous ceramic heat radiant plate is positioned
at a 30-degree angle.
5. A T-shaped porous burner is provided for applying an open flame
to the specimen, using a cylinder-driven mechanism.
6. The optical system includes a light source with a 2900 ± 100 K
color temperature incandescent lamp, light source is a silicon
photodiode;
7. A shutter is installed in front of the silicon photodiode, which
can be automatically opened and closed by computer test software
for easy calibration;
8. A rotor flowmeter adjusts the flame height of the T-type burner;
9. A propane mass flowmeter adjusts the gas flow to the radiant
panel, with digital display;
10. An internal blower provides air source, mixing the test gas via
a Venturi mixing system;
11. A mass flow controller adjusts the air flow to the radiant
panel;
12. An SB water-cooled heat flow meter has an operating range of
0-50 kW/m², an accuracy of <±2%, and a response time of 0.2 s,
providing a portable cooling water source, eliminating the need for
external water connections;
13. A user-friendly heat flux meter allows for convenient
calibration of the radiant panel's thermal radiation flux, while
the test software plots a standard thermal radiation flux curve;
14. A footswitch allows the user to determine the flame spread time
to the test distance based on the flame spread distance, which is
automatically recorded by the computer;
15. One chimney thermocouple and one chamber thermocouple are
installed, both of which are displayed on the computer software;
16. An infrared radiometer is provided to detect the radiant panel
temperature, which is also displayed on the computer software;
17. A 15-inch industrial touchscreen computer allows users to
monitor the entire combustion test process through the test
software;
18. The software displays test-related information such as thermal
radiation flux values, smoke density curves, transmittance curves,
and wind speed.
