• Function and Appliion

1.Sealing the Combustion Chamber: When closed, the intake valve forms a tight seal with the corresponding intake valve seat. This seal is crucial to prevent the compressed air - fuel mixture from escaping during the compression stroke, which could reduce compression pressure and engine power. It also stops high - pressure exhaust gases from flowing back into the intake manifold during the exhaust stroke.

2.Withstanding Operational Stresses: The intake valve operates under significant mechanical and thermal stresses. It is subjected to repeated opening and closing movements driven by the camshaft, valve springs, and rocker arms, requiring high durability to resist wear. Although it is exposed to lower temperatures than the exhaust valve, it still needs to be made of heat - resistant materials due to heat transfer from the combustion chamber.
