Decanol is a colorless, transparent, viscous liquid with an ester-like fragrance and strong refractive properties. It is insoluble in water but miscible with alcohols, ethers, chloroform, and other organic solvents.

Applications:

1. Primarily used in the manufacture of phthalate esters (such as di-n-decyl phthalate) as plasticizers and surface active agents.
2. Solvent for rubber, resins, inks, dyes, waxes, and nitrocellulose.
3. Refined Decanol is used in the production of fragrances such as rose, orange blossom, and violet.
4. Used as an anti-foaming agent, green fruit ripening agent, and herbicide.
