Grade 304, also known as 18/8 stainless steel, is the most widely used and versatile austenitic stainless steel. It contains 18% chromium and 8% nickel, which provides excellent corrosion resistance, high formability, and good mechanical properties. Grade 304 is used in a variety of applications across different industries due to its balance of strength, durability, and resistance to oxidation and corrosion.

• General Corrosion Resistance: Excellent resistance to a wide range of atmospheric environments and many corrosive media.
• Pitting and Crevice Corrosion: Good resistance in moderately aggressive environments, though it can be susceptible to chloride-induced pitting and crevice corrosion in chloride-containing environments.

Applications:

1. Chemical and Pharmaceutical Industry

• Chemical Containers: Used in chemical containers, transport tanks, and heat exchangers due to its resistance to various chemicals.

3. Shell and Tube Heat Exchangers:
