1. Introuduction

To meet National IV and V emission standards, most commercial vehicle diesel engines adopt a DOC+SCR aftertreatment system. However, the catalytic properties of different SCR types can significantly impact final pollutant emissions.
In our experiments, we developed a copper-based molecular sieve SCR catalyst. Testing was conducted on a 2.8L diesel engine, with comparative analysis against a vanadium-based SCR catalyst under both the steady-state ESC cycle and transient ETC cycle. The focus was to evaluate the pollutant emission reduction characteristics of each system.
Key findings include:
Under the ETC cycle, the molecular sieve SCR achieved 19% higher NO reduction efficiency and 33% higher PM reduction efficiency compared to the vanadium-based SCR.
The molecular sieve SCR exhibited superior low-temperature NO conversion efficiency. Additionally, its insensitivity to exhaust flow rates resulted in significantly higher conversion efficiency than the vanadium-based SCR under high space velocity conditions.
While the molecular sieve SCR showed slightly weaker particulate number reduction efficiency (approximately 7% lower than the vanadium-based SCR), it tended to decompose large-mass particulates into smaller ones.
Both SCR types demonstrated effective reduction of CO and HC emissions, with a reduction rate of approximately 20% for each pollutant.
