SC Attenuator is an SC type connector used to reduce the optical signal power in fiber optic transmission. It reduces the optical signal power by adding a certain length of highly absorbent additional material between the two ends of the SC connector.

SC Attenuators typically come in two types, fixed SC attenuators and adjustable SC attenuators. Fixed SC attenuators usually utilize a predetermined fixed amount of attenuation, while adjustable SC attenuators allow the user to adjust the amount of attenuation as needed.
