What's the Difference between HGU and SFU?

From the above content, we can know that SFU also belongs to ONU. But SFU is a bridge unit and is mainly used by single-family. It only supports broadband access terminals. There are one or four Ethernet interfaces, providing Ethernet/IP service, VoIP and CATV service. It's mainly applied in FTTH.

In terms of establishment, SFU can't carry out coupling across different manufacturers. The ONU only can connect to OLT of the same manufacturers. However, HGU can achieve coupling without incompatibility.

HGU, the home gateway ONU, supports Layer 3 routing, which can network easily and supports communication among multiple users. As for SFU, it is equal to Layer 2 Switch and only supports every single user to access the Internet.
