Clutch pressure plate type

There are generally two types of clutch pressure plate assemblies: with coil springs and with diaphragm springs. The difference between them is the way in which the pressure plate is pressed toward and away from the clutch driven plate.

Clutch pressure plate action

The clutch driven disc is pressed against the flywheel with sufficient force to effectively transmit engine torque, and the driven disc stops rotating when disengaged from the clutch.
