Class Approval MED Free Fall Lifeboat Launching Appliance Ship Life Saving Equipment
GENERAL REQUIREMENTS
1.1 The davit to be manufactured and tested under the approval of major Classification Society in compliance with the requirements of the latest MSC.47(66)-Amendments to SOLAS 1974 & MSC.48(66)-LSA and MSC81(70).
1.2 This launching appliance is capable of pushing the fully laden lifeboat to full outboard position through the hydraulic oil cylinder and then the lifeboat lowers to water surface depended on its own gravity.
1.3 The lifeboat may freely fall into water by opening the release mechanism from a position within the lifeboat.
1.4 This appliance may recover the lifeboat with 4 persons to stowed position.
1.5 The inspections and tests of davit appliances to be in accordance with the IMO Resolutions MSC81(70) and approved by classification society
