MR- ULP (Ultra Low Pressure) series are the ultra low-pressure aromatic composite membrane elements, applicable to desalination of surface water and underground water. It can work under ultra low pressure to reach as high permeate flow and salt rejection as regualr low-pressure composite membrane, and achieves a salt rejection rate of up to 99.5%, which can decrease the investment costs for such relevant facilities as pump, piping, and container etc. and operating cost for the RO system, thus increasing the economic efficiency.

RO is the finest level of filtration available. The RO membrane acts as a barrier to all dissolved salts and inorganic molecules, as well as organic molecules with a molecular weight greater than approximately 100. Water molecules, on the other hand, pass freely through the membrane creating a purified products separations, purification of home drinking water and industrial process water.

The Vontron RO Membrane 4040 is a thin film composite membrane consisting of three layers: a polyester support web, a microporous polysulfone interlayer, and an ultra-thin playable barrier layer on the top surface. Each layer is tailored to specific requirements. A schematic diagram of the membrane is shown in figure 1.10.
